Rules...or better: ideas

#1: Do not make any assumptions about a child“s cultural or linguistic background withut getting further information.

#2: Decide what inforation is important to know.

Basic demographic information, linguistic practices in and outside of the home and relevant cultural practices.

#3: Plam how to get this information.

#4: Think about using a variety of ways to get tis information.

face-to-face communication, written communications, communications that can be arranged in the parents' home language.

Please fill out as much as you can:

child“s name? father“s name? father“s country of origin? mother“s name? mothers country of origin? what name do you use for your child? how did you decide to give you child this name? does this name have a particular meaning or translation? where was your child born? where else has your child lived and when? how long has your family lived in Iceland? what language or languages do you use to talk to  your child? father? mother? do you speak other languages? who else does your child spend time with besides you? please estimate how many icelandic word your child knows? do you belong to a particular religious grou? list the food that your child likes? list the food that your child does not like? what does your child usually eat with: fingers, chopsticks, fork and knife, spoon? how does your child let yu know she or he needs to use the toilet?
